Join as a volunteer

There are lots of ways you can get involved, flexing to the time you have available. From helping out occasionally on a parent rota, volunteering as a leader, supporting the Group administration or lending a hand to fundraising. Our volunteering opportunities are as varied as you! Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity in the Scout hut, organising a night away, or flipping 120 burgers – no two events are the same. The difference you make, though, is always great.   You will be surprised how rewarding it can be.

You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent.  Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers and skill sharers. We’re talking about mini bus drivers and first aiders. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family and support our vibrant community.

Here are examples of where we need help now:

Section leaders Joint lead a Scout Section to deliver a balanced programme of term time events and holiday camps, following the method and values of Scouting
Assistant leadersRegularly support and share the load of the Section Leader to run an amazing programme of activities.
Hut AdministratorManage Scout Hut bookings, be a key point of contact for regular users, help to manage the overall safe use of the facilities

Note: Most roles will require a commitment to Scout training to ensure the safe running of the Section and delivery of a balanced programme.  Our experienced team will be available to offer support and advise.
